Tillamook Old-Fashioned Vanilla

Take a stand for vanilla. Then take a nap.

Vanilla has gotten a bad rap lately—or maybe no rap it all. Vanilla equals bland. It's ridiculous. Vanilla is its own damn thing, and this old-fashioned vanilla is so much more than flavor. This is the custardy, thick scoop of melty goodness just waiting to sacrifice itself to a hot slice of cherry pie.

If you’re looking for something to eat by the pool, keep looking. This isn’t a refreshing vanilla— it’s more of a Grandma’s house, could-be-homemade, summer-is-turning-to-fall vanilla.

Overall rating: 5/5

Flavor: 5/5

This stuff tastes exactly like you’d imagine by looking at the carton. The real egg yolk and vanilla are prominent. It has some definite richness, but doesn’t go too far.

Texture: 5/5

Thick, creamy, custardy. It almost seems to stick to the roof of my mouth.

Mix-ins: Nada

The last word:

Tillamook respects vanilla enough to make three variations of the flavor. This is definitely the most custard-like of the bunch. If you’re looking for a cold scoop to warm your soul, this is the ice cream for you.
