Nice texture, but unbalanced flavor.
This ice cream has all the makings of a top flavor for me. I'm a big fan of white chocolate AND raspberries, and Tillamook is one of my go-to brands when I'm looking for a quart (The I-need-enough-for-more-than-one-night size). When I pictured my future with the White Chocolate Raspberry Yum, I imagined ribbons of tangy raspberries balancing the sweet white chocolate perfectly, but reality was a little different.
Overall rating: 3/5
Flavor: 2/5
The white chocolate ice cream base definitely tastes like white chocolate. It's tasty and very sweet—no surprises there. The three stars happen in the raspberry. The ribbon of fruit reminds me of a jam. Where I expect bright summer flavors of raspberries, I actually just get sugar with a hint of berry. I'm sure there are people who dive right into this stuff and LOVE the unapologetic sweetness. For me, I need some more tang to be happy.
Texture: 4/5
Tillamook is reliably creamy. This one is mildy airy in a good way without being too light.
Mix-ins: 4/5
The raspberry ribbon is nicely distributed, you'll most likely get some in each spoonful.
The last word:
The carton has been in my freezer for about two weeks now...about 10 days longer than my normal ice cream intake would indicate. I'm certain I'll eventually eat the rest, but it's not pulling at my mouth strings if you know what I mean.
